Things To Bring on a Campout

Your comfort and ease at a campsite mostly depend on the gear and other important items you brought with you. But it’s not always easy to decide what to bring. It’s about finding the right mix between bringing everything you need and packing too much, since weight and space are usually a problem, especially if you’re hiking.

Follow these 5 simple tips for camping when you pack:

Make a list

If you’ve never been camping before, making a list of all the basics will help you a lot when you’re packing for a trip. Divide the things on the list into groups, such as camping gear, cooking tools, toiletries, personal items, and so on.

Make sure you don’t forget anything important by checking off these things as you pack. If you don’t know what to pack, there are a lot of lists online that you can use as a guide. Then, you can add or take away things based on what you like.

Use clear plastic containers.

It’s best to pack things in different groups so you can save time when you get to the campsite. Plastic bins are very useful. Because they are clear, it would be easier to find what you need in them.

Label each box with the group it belongs to. You can start with camping gear (tent, tent accessories, sleeping bag, pillows, etc.), clothes (depending on the season), cooking tools (pans, pots, plates, utensils, etc.), dry food (snacks, canned goods, etc.), and toiletries (shampoo, soap, sunscreen, insect repellant, etc.).

Look at the weather report.

Think about when your camping trip will be, what season it will be, and what kind of weather you can expect. You should pack based on the weather, especially when it comes to clothing and sleeping gear. This is why it’s so important to check the weather report ahead of time.

You don’t want to bring tank tops and short sleeves and be really cold because it’s raining!

Make a meal plan.

One of the most important things to take on a trip is food. If you plan your meals ahead of time and do the prep work at home, you’ll have a lot less trouble. Make sure to choose meals that are easy to cook and bring extra food just in case.

To save room when packing snacks, take off the cartons!

Use the rule “first in, last out.”

When packing your car, put the things you’ll need right away last. That way, they’ll be easy to get to when you get to the spot.
